Two extraordinary destinations. One unforgettable journey.

Some rides are worth training for. Others are worth planning a holiday around. The RBC GranFondo Whistler is both: a cycling adventure connecting the waterfront energy of Vancouver with the mountain playground of Whistler, through British Columbia’s spectacular Sea-to-Sky corridor. Here, the scenery is not something you travel past on your way to the event. It is the reason you came—and you get to experience it from the saddle.

Following a sold-out 2026 edition, the event returns on Saturday, September 11, 2027, with three distances and a weekend that reaches well beyond the finish line. Come with a personal goal, your favourite riding companions or simply the desire to do something extraordinary with your year. Then leave room in your itinerary for everything surrounding the ride.

Begin with a city that lives outdoors

Arrive in Vancouver a few days early and the appeal becomes obvious. Downtown streets give way to waterfront paths, beaches and the towering rainforest of Stanley Park. A gentle spin along the seawall becomes sightseeing in its own right, with the city skyline on one side and the water and North Shore mountains on the other. This is a place where preparing for a big ride need not feel like waiting for one.

Off the bike, there is just as much to make time for. Explore the food stalls and artisan studios of Granville Island, settle into a neighbourhood café, or enjoy fresh Pacific seafood after a day by the water. Vancouver offers the pleasures of a cosmopolitan city without ever letting you forget how close you are to the outdoors—an inviting beginning to a holiday for riders and non-riding companions alike.

The anticipation builds at VeloSpoke, the event’s cycling expo and package pickup. Collecting your rider package, exploring the exhibits and meeting the people who will share the road brings the months of preparation into focus. The ride is no longer a date in your calendar. It is tomorrow’s adventure.

Experience the Sea-to-Sky from the saddle

For Gran Fondo and Forte riders, the journey begins in Stanley Park. Soon comes one of the event’s defining experiences: crossing Lions Gate Bridge without motor traffic, surrounded by fellow cyclists. Suspension cables stretch overhead, the water opens beneath you and the city takes on a different character when the road belongs to bikes. It is a remarkable way to leave Vancouver behind.

Beyond the city, the Sea-to-Sky Highway reveals its changing landscapes: the waters of Howe Sound, forested slopes and the mountain scenery of the Tantalus and Garibaldi ranges. A dedicated traffic-free lane provides an exceptional opportunity to ride this celebrated corridor, while the climbing gives the views—and the eventual arrival in Whistler—their own hard-earned significance.

This is a substantial challenge, with support around you throughout the day. Rest stops offer a chance to refuel and regroup, while mechanical assistance, on-course marshals and medical services help keep the ride moving. Volunteers, spectators and on-course entertainment add their own energy. Whether you are chasing a strong performance or taking on your first major cycling goal, you are part of a shared adventure.

Choose the challenge that means something to you

The 122 km / 76 mile Gran Fondo is the signature Vancouver-to-Whistler journey. For those seeking more, the 146 km / 91 mile Forte adds the Callaghan climb before rejoining the route to Whistler. The 55 km / 34 mile Medio starts and finishes in Whistler, exploring the Callaghan Valley and Whistler Olympic Park—a shorter mountain adventure with a finish worth celebrating.

There are different ways to shape the occasion, too. Alta Classe offers a premium hospitality experience, while the St. Regis Cup brings qualified teams together for a competitive race. Visit the event website for category details and the latest 2027 information.

The right choice is the one that gives you something meaningful to work towards. It might be a distance that once felt out of reach, a day shared with friends, or the opportunity to see what happens when you commit to a goal and follow it all the way to the finish.

Make the finish part of the holiday

In Whistler, the finish leads into a celebration with medals, food, a drink and live entertainment. It is a chance to stop watching the kilometres and start enjoying what you have accomplished.

Find your friends, compare the moments that stayed with you and make room for a few photographs before anyone takes their medal off. The climb that seemed endless becomes a story. The person who encouraged you along the way becomes someone you look for in the crowd. There is a particular pleasure in celebrating with people who understand exactly what the day asked of you.

And with Whistler’s restaurants, patios and lively après scene around you, there is no reason to treat crossing the line as the end of the occasion. Book somewhere for dinner, order something you have been looking forward to and let the conversation run longer than planned.

Stay for the mountain life

Whistler deserves more than a finish-line visit. Its walkable village brings together accommodation, shops, restaurants and galleries, with mountain scenery never far from view. After the movement and concentration of ride day, there is something especially satisfying about having nowhere urgent to be.

Keep the next morning open for breakfast and a gentle wander, spend time beside a lake, or explore the valley’s trails at a more leisurely pace. Those still hungry for adventure can make room for alpine sightseeing and more time outdoors. Whistler makes it possible to build a holiday around both achievement and the simple pleasure of being somewhere beautiful.

For a different kind of mountain experience, book time at Scandinave Spa, where open-air baths sit among the forest. Or trade the saddle for the galleries of the Audain Art Museum. These are reasons to bring your partner, gather your friends and stay another night.

That contrast is what makes the RBC GranFondo Whistler such a compelling destination event. You begin with the food, culture and waterfront life of Vancouver, travel through a dramatic coastal landscape under your own power, and finish with a mountain holiday already underway.

Give your next holiday a finish line

The event’s travel hub brings together accommodation, bike-service and transportation information to help shape your visit. Start with your riding goal, then build the days around it: time to enjoy Vancouver, time to celebrate in Whistler and time with the people you brought along.

The bike might be the reason you book the trip. By the time you leave, it will be only part of the story.

Join the RBC GranFondo Whistler on September 11, 2027, and give yourself something extraordinary to ride towards.
